The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Beta Phi Lambda Chapter Debutant Ball in Savannah , GA is the oldest uninterrupted Black Debutant presentation in the United States and has been featured in newspapers, magazines, books, and movies. The program began as an idea in 1942 and began its continued presentations since 1944. Participants receive the Lilian Jackson-Ray Scholarship.
