Sonata in D Major, Hob. XVI: 37 (I: Allegro con brio) by Joseph Haydn
One of my favorite memories from my student days is discovering new music through friends. I was lucky to oftentimes be around colleagues that were superb sight-readers, and we would read through literature together (each taking a hand) or for each other. My teachers, particularly in my pre-college years, would also play for me as I sat and turned pages.
These recordings of more advanced pieces are presented in that spirit of informality as an introduction to some of the standard piano literature that becomes accessible as students continue to progress. So, make yourself comfortable, take a seat beside me at the piano (my cat, Yuri, is likely snoozing on his perch with us), watch the score, and enjoy!
Note on Editions: The slides shown are from an edition in the public domain available on imslp.org. This is not the edition I am playing from however, so from time to time there are some minor variations.
