"It was a very good meeting (referring to his meeting with the King Abdullah II of Jordan). We are now operating on two different tracks a political one, which is a matter of repair between Israel and the Palestinians. And one economic one which is a troika: Jordan the Palestinians and us. It is parallel one does not depend upon another but when we can make progress on the economic side we don't wait for the political side. We are talking about the economic proposal to convert the whole border between us, Jordanians and the Palestinians into an ongoing economic zone and we see eye to eye on all of the problems and possibilities and I think we shall begin to realise it not in the very far future.
Q: So do you think Jordan can play a major role in the peace process?
A: One hundred per cent! Jordan has a Palestinian element, the Palestinians say that the Jordanians' history, they don't want to become confederation and they don't want to unite politically but they are seriously ready to coordinate economically and I am sure that it will help indirectly the political process.
