[ Ссылка ] Lead in paint and the environment is an air quality health safety issue that is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Lead paint was banned from use in the U.S. in 1978. However, prior to that, more than 38 million homes were affected by lead paint, resulting in unsafe environments when lead paint is disturbed.
The U.S. Product Consumer Safety Commission oversees lead levels in consumer products. If they do not meet the lead level guidelines, they are banned from sale in the U.S.
When lead is suspected in a residential or school structure built prior to 1978, they must be tested for lead. Today, lead testing is an easy non-invasive test that is performed using an XRF analyzer gun. Test results are instantaneous. In the State of California, if lead is found, a report is sent to the proper State regulatory agency.
If lead is suspected in a structure, the steps to remediation include:
1. Hire a certified or licensed lead testing professional
2. Get the structure tested for lead paint
3. Get a risk assessment
4. After remediation test again
