STORYLINE:
Six more monitors from the Arab League's observer mission left Syria on Wednesday.
The monitors - three from Sudan, two from Somalia, and one from Egypt - made no statements on departing the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.
Their withdrawal follows the departure from the observer mission last month of more than 50 monitors from Gulf Arab states.
It comes days after Syrian allies Russia and China vetoed a Western- and Arab-backed resolution at the United Nations that would have condemned the regime's crackdown on dissent and called on President Bashar Assad to transfer some of his powers to his deputy.
The Syrian government had rejected the Arab plan as intervention in Syria's internal affairs.
Repeated efforts by the Arab League and Russia to broker talks have been rejected by the Syrian opposition, which refuses any negotiations while the crackdown continues.
The withdrawal of six more monitors from the Arab League's observer mission comes as forces loyal to Assad continue to pounded the opposition city of Homs.
The violence in Syria has led to the most severe international isolation in more than four decades of Assad family rule, with country after country calling home their envoys.
