Known as the iron lady of Manipur, Irom Sharmila resumed her fight 15-year-old indefinite fast at the histroic Sahid Minar in Imphal on Tuesday (March 1) demanding repeal of the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act in the state. Speaking to TIMES NOW, Sharmila said she was desperately hoping for peoples support to steer the entire government of Manipur as well as the Central government. "There should be no more killings between people and concerned authorities," she said. Smiling to the cameras Sharmila further added that as long as God is the faithful witness to her struggles, she will continue with the protest irrespective of her desires. "I am just a mundane being who wants to live as a natural, simple, normal women," she added. Sharmila further told TIMES NOW that she had made efforts in the past to meet and convey her message to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi which has not found any positive response but is hopeful that she would be able to meet the Prime Minister and speak about her concerns about the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and demand its repeal.
