Monday gets Quiet: Week 1 - Unplug
Life gets busy. We have work, school, family, friends, meetings, practices, games, grocery shopping, exercise, bills, and so on. But we can't always blame our busyness on life, for our calendars don't fill themselves out.. we do. Driven by a sense of bigger, stronger, faster, we pack more into our schedules than can possibly fit. Then, in a state of surprise, we utter the words, "Wow, I got eight hours of sleep last night, and I still feel tired." Should we really be that shocked, or have we all signed up for the I-guess-I-had-to-get-sick-in-order-to-slow-down program? Even more disturbing the super healthy I'll-sleep-when-I-am-dead plan. Neither of these programs are working for us. Our minds, hearts, and bodies need to rest, and we need to start intentionally creating space for this to happen. We need to rejuvenate, refill, and pace ourselves. Enough liking likes, enough noise, enough checking off our lists. It's time to step away, turn it off, and slow our roll. I promise you won't miss a beat and that it will be one of the most life-giving and rewarding things you do all year. Getting quiet matters.
