As the Oxford community continues to mourn the tragic loss of four teens, the superintendent for the district has requested an independent security of review of all safety practices and procedures in place.

In a letter addressed to the community, the superintendent says the shooting began as hundreds of students were in the hallway between classes. Staff and students reacted “swiftly and heroically,” preventing additional deaths and injuries. Ethan Crumbley, 15, is facing 24 charges, including terrorism and murder. His parents have since been charged with involuntary manslaughter for failing to report that they had recently bought their son a gun. The Crumbleys have entered not guilty pleas.
