El Médano in the south of Tenerife, what to see in a town dominated by the wind
There is not much to see in El Médano but at the same time this small town in the south of Tenerife offers some of the best beaches on the island, water sports options like nowhere else and easy hiking trails that have little to envy to the most spectacular of the largest of the Canaries. When referring to El Médano everything and nothing is true.
In this small coastal town of Granadilla de Abona there is only one thing certain, the wind dominates everything. So much so that we could say that Eolo is the true engine of the area. Its strength means that windsurfing and kitesurfing are the stars for much of the year, although diving and surfing are also practiced in the area. In El Médano the wind is not a handicap.
What to do and what to see in El Medano
It is important to note that the entire south of Tenerife is relatively young in terms of tourism (its development began in the 1980s). El Médano is one of those places that preserves a seductive beauty while at the same time it has known how to stay away from the degradation to which other strips of the southern coast of Tenerife are being subjected.
Much of the surroundings of El Médano remain undeveloped, apart from the legendary Hotel El Médano and the nearby port of Granadilla that can be seen if we look to the east. Today it is possible to spend a few days in the town and feel that you are in a world of tranquility and good vibes. All influenced by the sea, sand and sun. There is nothing that this combination of elements cannot cure. pure medicine.
