BTS 진 ‘러닝 와일드’ 아이튠즈 70개국 1위
Time for our daily dose of K-Enter news with Walter Lee. Walter, on Friday we left off with announcing the release of BTS member Jin's solo album, Now it's Monday and already one of his songs is "running wild" on the charts?
Yes, indeed. On Saturday, BTS' label Bit Hit Music announced that Jin’s song "Running Wild" off his solo album "Happy" has topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in 70 countries, including Australia, Finland and Brazil.
Also, according to the UK Official Charts on Friday local time, the pre-release track "I’ll Be There" from Jin’s album ranked at number 65 on the Official Singles Downloads Chart and 73 on the Official Singles Sales Chart, a great achievement in such a short time, given that the album was only released on November 15th, or Friday Korean local time.
Meanwhile, Jimin has been breaking personal records with his second solo album titled "MUSE" and its track "Who." That track has now become Jimin’s longest charting solo track in the UK and is currently ranked 75th on the Official Singles Chart, 3rd on the Singles Downloads Chart, and 5th on the Singles Sales Chart.
But that’s not all. Jimin is also setting more records on music streaming platform Spotify. "Who" became the fastest song released by a Korean artist in 2024 to reach 1 billion streams.
Congratulations to both Jin and Jimin but we are not finished with BTS yet are we?
That's right, staying on the subject of BTS members and Spotify, V has become the first K-pop soloist to exceed 19 million followers on the streaming platform. Also, V’s debut solo album titled "Layover" recently surpassed 2 billion cumulative streams.
And Jungkook's debut solo single "Seven" feat. Latto and "Standing Next to You" from his solo album GOLDEN continue to perform strongly, appearing on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global chart for 70 and 53 weeks, respectively.
Jungkook is the first K-pop artist to achieve 2 billion streams on Spotify for a single song. It took 469 days for his song "Seven" to reach this milestone, making it the fourth fastest song in Spotify history to do so, following Harry Styles’ "As It Was" , The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber’s "Stay" , and The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights" .
Moving on to other boy group news, what do you have?
All members of the group THE BOYZ are set to transfer to One Hundred, the agency led by producer MC Mong . For those who don't know MC Mong has made a name as a hip-hop artist and a comedic radio and TV personality.
One Hundred announced the move to their agency on Friday and although the members' current contracts have not yet expired with IST entertainment, they are expected to officially join One Hundred by the middle of next month.
However, when the move occurs, it remains uncertain whether they will be able to retain their group name. It has been reported that One Hundred and their current agency have yet to discuss trademark issues regarding the name.
Anticipating this, One Hundred has applied for trademarks under similar names such as THE BOISE, THE NEW BOYZ, and TNBZ (The New Boys).
Let's hope everything will be sorted out including the group's name for the fans to continue their support for THE BOYZ (for now).
Thank you Walter for that. Stick around.
