558 Burundian refugees are preparing to return home 5 years after they fled their country. Thousands of others have refused to return however, saying the reasons they fled in the first place still exist there.
Those who have decided to leave will say goodbye to the Mahama Refugee Camp in Bugesera District of Rwanda's Eastern Province; the place they have called home since April 2015.
They have been registered and checked for Covid-19 and other illnesses.
Refugees' Representative says no one has been forced to leave and that the exercise is voluntary.
This Wednesday 558 will be taken across the border and back home to Burundi, more have continued to get registered and will also be assisted to return on later dates.
