Nell takes you on another tour of Seaside Gardens is in Carpinteria, just 10 minutes south of our base in Santa Barbara CA. The 3 acre+ botanical wonderland showcases 11 garden vignettes, created by local designers, from around the world. You can see what does well in this part of coastal California. Plus, it is also a nursery - you can buy plants, containers, garden art, etc. What gets better that that!

This time you'll see examples of a cottage garden as well as a garden with many grasses. The elements of a cottage garden are seen in this one - a large variety of blooming plants, a fountain, rock wall & vine covered arches. The bees, birds & butterflies flock to this garden.

It flows right into the grass garden which was also blooming like crazy when she was there last August. Grasses, as you can see, can be quite dramatic. Plus, they are well suited to California which is dry for a good portion of the year. The honeybees were swarming all over the Sedum "Autumn Joy".
