3. SOUNDBITE (Hungarian) Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister:
"In the course of history this is not the first time what we are seeing that Europe is undefended, unprotected from its southern side. Greece is unable to defend Europe, so therefore we, Hungarians, propose that we should create a new defence line on the Bulgarian-Greek and on the Macedonian-Greek borders for the safety of the continent. This is where we should control and screen migrants."

5. SOUNDBITE (Polish) Beata Szydlo, Polish Prime Minister:
"My government from the beginning has had a very clear position and that is to strengthen the Schengen zone and provide humanitarian aid (to refugees), but most importantly we should solve the migration issue outside the borders of the European Union."

7. SOUNDBITE (Hungarian) Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister:
"I'd like to say that what we are looking at is a phenomenon that is endangering our everyday life. What we call migration did not descend on Europe by force. No. Doors were opened and there were certain times when people were especially encouraged and transported (in an) uncontrolled (fashion) without any security measures into Western Europe."

9. SOUNDBITE (Polish) Beata Szydlo, Polish Prime Minister:
"In terms of migrants, we are seeking a joint position on the issue as well, as we both said earlier. It is also important for the Visegrad Group (alliance between Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia) to have a joint position on all the issues debated on the European level. With regards to Poland and the so-called 'border guards', we are deeply involved in the preparations of this project. But on the condition that this is the sovereign decision of each and every state, what kind of troops they allow next to their borders."
10. Szydlo and Orban leaving
STORYLINE:
Hungary's prime minister said on Monday Western European leaders, who consider migration a positive issue, were to blame for the deteriorating everyday security on the continent.
Speaking at a joint news conference with visiting Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo in Budapest, Viktor Orban reiterated his call for a new European defence line on the northern borders of Greece to end the influx of people.
Szydlo called for the strengthening of the southern borders of Europe's passport-free Schengen zone, but added that she thought the crisis "outside the borders of the European Union."
