Manuel Tironi is an Associate Professor in the Sociology Department at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research focusses on natural disasters, studies of science & technology, sociology of the environment and urban sociology. His lead researcher at CIGIDEN which is a multidisciplinary and multi-university research centre that looks for the integrated disaster risk management. Its aim is to strengthen the resilience of Chile, facing its natural hazards, and avoiding them to turn into disasters.
