In Mega Man 2 for the NES, there are multiple locations where Mega Man can abuse his platform items to quickly zip through long areas of the level. In this example, I demonstrate how to use Item 1 to zip through a long portion of Bubble Man's stage.

Often, when Mega Man is out of bounds or standing in an area he is not supposed to be able to stand in, the game will push Mega Man out of that OOB area onto the next in-bounds surface. When this happens, he moves very fast through ceilings, walls, or floors, and it is known as a "zip." In fact, a "zip" can occur in many many games. There are a ton of these in the Mega Man series, so here's one you can do in Bubble Man's level in Mega Man 2.

First, obtain Item 1 by defeating Heat Man. Then head to Bubble Man.

In the area with the three long platforms and the hermit crab enemies - just before you reach the bottom level of the stage - equip Item 1. When you fall off the lowest platform in this room, hug the edge of the platform while facing to the right. Fall STRAIGHT DOWN in this position.

When you transition into the next area below, throw an Item 1 right when Mega Man's underpants line up with the bottom of his life bar. When you land, immediately jump back up onto the Item 1 platform, and move up against the water jet thingy on the ceiling. Press all the way up against it, then let go of the D-Pad. If you did it right, Mega Man will be pushed up into the ceiling by Item 1.

When this happens, immediately tap A then Left and Mega Man will begin to zip toward the right, skipping a significant amount of the stage. Note that when you tap the A button, you need to tap the Left direction about 3 to 6 frames after.
