On Dec. 21, 1968, three men were on their way to becoming the first to orbit the moon. NASA’s first flight to the moon, Apollo 8, launched from Cape Kennedy, Fla. On board were Commander Frank Borman, Lunar Module Pilot William A. Anders and Command Module Pilot James A. Lovell Jr. The mission lasted six days. It took almost three days to travel to the moon.
