A short documentary on vanishing culture of Surel indigenous community of Nepal. This twelve minutes long video documentary on Surel indigenous community in Nepal introduce the culture and identity of Surel people. This video is produced by Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (FONIJ) with the support of Indigenous Voices in Asia (IVA) project.
Historical Background of Surel people

Surel people, one of the many indigenous ethnic group in Nepal is a member of Kirat families that includes the Rai, the Limbu, the Sunuwar, the Dhimal, the Jirel, the Hayus, the Yakkhas and other related Mongoloid people of Nepal.
Kirat people or Kiratas are the first people of Nepal. They started the first civilization of Nepal starting in around 800 BCE.
This documentary will give cultural and identity awareness to the people of Nepal and that Kirat people will unite and help one another in reviving their ancient culture, language, heritage, religion and tradition before it all vanishes with the time.
