Have you ever woke up with a crick in your neck? It can be very frustrating especially when all you did was get some good quality sleep. The crick in your neck after sleeping could be influenced by your sleeping position.
Depending on how you lay in bed, gravity is going to impact your body in a particular way.
This happens because gravity will move fluid around inside of a torso, which can influences muscle activity of the ribcage and pelvis.
The ribcage is the number 1 influence of neck motion, so if it isn’t as mobile as it should be, you could get a crick in your neck. Before you ditch your pillow, try improving your ribcage mobility to ease that crick in your neck. If you are a side sleeper try this breathing exercise on your back.
If you prefer your back or belly try this side lying drill with a yoga block.
