Employees learn best when they understand the objective of the training program. The objective refers to the purpose and expected outcome of training activities.
There may be objectives for each training session, as well as overall objectives for the program. Training objectives based on the training needs analysis help employees understand why they need training and what they need to learn.
Objectives are also useful for identifying the types of training outcomes that should be measured to evaluate a training program’s effectiveness. The objective should not describe performance that cannot be observed, such as “understand” or “know.”
