In a virtual news conference, federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announces that 780,000 doses of Moderna’s bivalent COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Canada on September 2, with a total of 10.5 million doses expected to arrive by the end of the month. He is joined by Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, and Dr. Laura Sauvé, infectious disease specialist with the Canadian Pediatric Society. The announcement follows Health Canada’s authorization of the new vaccine, which targets the original SARS-CoV-2 virus from 2019 and the Omicron BA.1 variant.
