An action packed morning at the Hand of Snacks. A White-breasted Nuthatch tries for an in-the-shell peanut but isn’t able to hang on to the nut and has to come back later. A Black-capped Chickadee perched on my arm tries to scare away a Tufted Titmouse by opening his beak wide, and then tries to scare away a much larger Red-bellied Woodpecker. The Woodpecker doesn’t budge so the Chickadee tries slapping his wings against my jacket to scare him (also doesn’t work.)
