Several big names from the pro peloton are still without a contract. Samuel Sanchez, Olympic road race champion in 2008, is rumoured to have signed with a World Tour team for 2014. Chris Horner, the Vuelta winner, still does not have a contract. There is some good news, Igor Anton, formerly of Euskaltel has signed with Movistar.

The routes for the 2014 Road World Championships have been announced. The championships will take place in Ponferrada, Spain, and the the courses look to be selective.
The cyclocross season is building towards the Christmas peak. Kevin Pauwels took a home win at the Vlaamse Industrieprijs Bosduin in Kalmthout, beating Lars van der Haar and Klaas Vantornout. Sanne Cant took the women's race ahead of Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Ellen van Looy.
