The no-confidence motion is the starting point of the downfall of the Narendra Modi government, said Telugu Desam Party MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas. Minutes after his motion was accepted, Mr. Srinivas told The Hindu that it was a victory of people of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP, which was prepared to carry out a protest through the monsoon session, was stumped as Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepted the motion. The party has been on a collision course with the Modi government since the Budget speech did not figure the long-promised special package for Andhra Pradesh.
