In St. John’s, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Newfoundland and Labrador’s chief medical officer of health, Andrew Furey, premier of N.L., and John Haggie, minister of health, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. The province is reporting 44 new COVID-19 cases and 21 presumptive positive cases. N.L. has been under lockdown since February 12, when 'alert level 5' restrictions were implemented due to an outbreak of the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) in the province. Restrictions are in place until at least February 26.
