A rather dull and damp but mild and enjoyable winter morning ride through road junctions connecting shared-use and cycling infrastructure in Cambridge, including NCN 51 Guided Busway. Junctions are negotiated successfully using the four core functions of the National Standard: look, prioritise, position, communicate. Applied systematically and routinely, they engender the serenity that comes from being completely in the moment while flowing through the traffic stream. This is the essence of cycling. It can be experienced everywhere cycling is permitted, even on roads without adequate cycling infrastructure.
