Welcome to the port of Marina Piccola, situated in a small cove of the Sorrento peninsula on the Eastern Side of Sorrento, formerly called Marina di Capo Cervo, named after the hill above it; this is the only place from which Sorrento ferries depart (they do not depart from Marina Grande). From here you can take the Hydrofoil (ferry) to the Islands of Ischia, Capri, Naples and Salerno. To get to the Port from Sorrento’s center (Piazza Tasso) I have personally explored 2 out of the three options. 1. If you're feeling energetic and don't have suitcases to carry you can take the most direct route and walk down the steep steps to Via Luigi di Malo which is the main road down to the portm If you'd prefer to avoid the steps and walki along the main road, turn left (if facing the sea) and follow the main road that curves right and down the hill 2). Or walk from Piazza Tasso to Via De Malo and walk through the Villa Comunale Park. You will find Ancient Stairs that lead down the Cliffside to the marina . This descent also takes you through an open air cave with beautiful arches and windows to the sea. This was my favorite walk to get to the Marina. Once you are at Sea Level, remember you have to get back up. So you can go back up the stairs or walk back up the steps to Via Luigi di Maio or you do have the option of taking the bus or there is a lift for $1.00 per person. I have taken photos of both routes so you can experience the difference. I also have a video of the walk from Sorrento’s Center (Piazza Tasso, via the steps / Via Luigi Di Malo). This is a moderate walk that takes about 10 minutes. The views are SPECTACULAR !! Once your in the Port will see the Grand Hotels such as the 5 Star Luxury Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. There are also some shops and restaurants and a small chapel dedicated to Santa Maria del Soccorso and the Souls of Purgatory.
