Good day, folks, and welcome to TdK’s culminating activity for the year 2024. I’m exceedingly proud of this year’s Tugtugan, because this time, classical pieces outnumber the modern ones. Classical Music, more than any other genre, utilizes most, if not all, technical drills every piano student goes through at the start of each lesson. So, for a teacher, the ability to play classical music indicates a good technical foundation. Sadly, not many take to the genre immediately, but I'd like to believe that as students develop in level and musical maturity, even those who have never played classical will eventually try and discover its merit. This is largely due to their perseverance and the continuous support extended by their parents, without which this presentation would not come to pass.
I have never been more appreciative of my students’ grit than when they’re advancing in level. What with the increasing demand in technique and musicality, it’s a phase rife with frustration. I’m glad, however, that they trust me enough to know that I have their best interest at heart when I require progress. And progress, they did. This recital is the fruit of that hard work. And as their mentor, nothing could be sweeter.
Students, thank you for the determination. Parents, thank you for the unwavering support for all these years. We’ve come a long way, all of us. May the next step in our musical journey be as fruitful. Without further ado, I give you Tugtugan 2024.
