I got bit by a macaw. During my first and second visit with Santina the Green-Winged Macaw at the rescue, she gave me a few bites on the arm. Actually it's not really fair to call these bites because they were more like very modestly irked pinches. I'm sure a truly aggressive bite would be far more substantial but these nips still hurt like hell. Still I did not react or do anything but it didn't necessarily help either.
Steve's approach telling the bird "no" turns out unsuccessful because it does not in any way keep Santina from biting again. Yet I have not been bit since bringing Santina home thanks to my general approach to parrot keeping. You can learn about my solutions to solving biting problems and for encouraging good behavior in my book The Parrot Wizard's Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots: [ Ссылка ]
