A number of major railways projects are underway. Here are some progress updates from the DOTr.
DOTr’s Undersecretary for Railways TJ Batan highlighted several updates on the railway projects, starting with the MRT-7. Usec.Batan stated that the construction of the said project is ongoing and there has been a major progress.
Meanwhile, the undersecretary mentioned that they are currently focusing on the design process of the Metro Manila Subway. He added that they are going to have their contractor for the partial operability section which includes the depot and the first 3 stations in Northe Ave.
Moreover, according to Usec.Batan, the LRT-2 East Extension will be operational by the 3rd quarter of 2019.
For the PNR projects, the undersecretary stressed that they are in the clearing process. He added that they will have their general contractors for Phase 1 of the Malolos-Clark railway project in place by the 3rd quarter of this year.
Additionally, he said that Phase 2 of the same project as well as the Tutuban-Calamba railway project are currently in the same phase, with detailed engineering design will be completed by the 1st quarter of next year.
Usec.Batan also stated that they will start bidding for the Mindanao railway projects by June of this year. The projects include Phase 1: Tagum-Davao-Digos segment. He added that they have started commissioning detailed engineering designs for the future phases.
