Today on our 2008 Toyota Tundra, we're going to be taking a look at the Glacier V-bar snow tire chains, part number PWH2828SC. Today we're using tire size 275 65R18's. If these chains are a little bit loose or a little bit too tight, you may have the wrong ones, so double check your tire size. If it's wrong, go on etrailer.com to our fit guide, and we'll get you the right tire chains. Before we actually put these on the tire, it's a good idea to lay them out on the ground, make sure there's no kinks or turns in the chains, so when you put them they're going to fit properly. It does have a ladder-style pattern. If you look here, you're going to see that V-bar design there on the chains themselves.
That's really going to cut through the snow and ice when you're driving to make for a much safer drive. We also have the cam tensioners. You want to make sure those are in the loose position before you put them on. With our hooks, you want to make sure that the flat side here is going to be on the tire and not away from it. We'll slip the chains up, drape them over, making sure that the V-bars themselves are sticking out away from the tire. Make sure we tuck it up underneath the front of the tire as much as we can.
Then we're going to pull forward a little bit, and then we can make our connections. We have five links to work with, to attach our hook to. We're going to try to get to the furthest one in, which in this case looks to be the second link. When I go out to the outer tire, I want to hook to either the first, second, or third links, just to make sure the tension is going to be even on both sides. Pulling as much as we can, looks like we'll be able to make it to the first link, which fits within our margins.
Put that through. Get our link here set and ready. This chain kit does come with a tool to tighten down the tensioners. Just put it through like so and tighten it down. You want to get as many as you can tightened down. However, you don't have to get all them.
If you can't get all of them tightened down, which is the case with this here, we do recommend you drive about forty feet or so, get out, check it again, and see if you can finish tightening the rest of them. We'll go ahead and do that now. It looks like that's the last one we can get tightened up. Now we're good to go. There you have it for the Glacier V-bar snow tire chains with cam tighteners, part number PWH2828SC on our 2008 Toyota Tundra.
