Now that the BRICS summit almost over, what remains is the hanging issue of the flow of cheap illegal imports that are dumped in the country. How is China and South Africa going to resolve this matter?
The government has a price-reference system, negotiated by representatives of labour and business, which made it easier for customs officials to identify false amounts on invoices for clothing imports. But this problem persists with the Customs officials confiscating goods at entry points from time to time. Will the fight to protect local businesses and restore jobs lost in the clothing and textile sector be won? Has the Brics summit address this and other issues to the benefit of all countries involved?
