Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is on track to secure a third term as state leader, holding an increased majority over the Coalition – twelve months out from the election.
According to the latest Newspoll, the Australian Labor Party’s primary vote has increased in Victoria since the last state election, remaining higher than the Coalition’s at 44.
Mr Andrews leads Opposition Leader Matthew Guy as preferred Premier of Victoria at 54 per cent to 33 per cent - while 13 per cent of voters remain uncommitted.
The current Premier’s approval rating has dropped from 75 per cent of satisfied voters in April 2020 to 56 per cent - but remains above Mr Guy's performance rating of 34 per cent satisfied voters.
Of those polled, 60 per cent say Mr Andrews has 'done well' in handling the COVID pandemic.
