On the night of June 22, 2023, users looked up the words Ping Identity with the words scam and fraud, as well as PingID, UAT, and "what is PingID," reporting that there was an email that might be a scam or legit that said "new authentic device added." I'm creating this video as a starting point so that you and other users can use the comments below as a one-stop hub to discuss whatever this is.
Regarding whether this was a scam or legit, I couldn't find info, but for people asking "what is PingID," I did notice that Ping Identity wasn't a new company or website and had no immediate red flags that would show there to be a cause for concern, specifically about the company itself. As for the email, it may have been an error sent out by the company or an email marketing firm, but that's just a guess. The reason I say that is because I've seen this happen in the past with a healthcare company, even for people who never did business with them.
So, for anyone searching for Ping Identity or PingID about this email with the word scam, tell me this: What's the email address it came from, the subject line, what does the message say, and where does the link in the email go to. If the email is from something @pingidentity.com, then it's likely not a phishing scam or anything like that.
Again, this video page is a hub for discussion so we can figure out what this is. Thanks for watching.
