Chinese first PWR SMR project enters the installation phase
On 30 November Equipment installation work commenced at the ACP 100 small modular reactor demonstration project at the Changjiang nuclear power plant.
The first concrete for the multi-purpose 125 MWe pressurized water reactor was poured on in July 2021. The site is already home to two operating CNP 600 PWRs, while the construction of the two Hualong One units began last year
ACP100 reactor is the first Chinese small modular PWR reactor. The development of the project involves the creation of a line of multifunctional reactors with a capacity of 25 to 200 MW, designed to generate electricity, heat, and water desalination. At the same time, it is also possible to create versions of floating nuclear power plants with such reactors.
