Presentation by Professor João Porto de Albuquerque, director of the Institute for Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick, on the importance of participatory mapping for building urban resilience.
Presentation took place during a webinar on participatory mapping with participants from the UK, Brazil and Colombia and was followed by a collaborative mapping activity in Rio Branco, AC.
This video was produced in the context of the implementation of the international project Wateproofing Data: Engaging Stakeholders in Sustainable Flood Risk Governance for Urban Resilience.
Waterproofing Data brings together an interdisciplinary group of researchers and institutions from the three collaborating countries, United Kingdom, Brazil and Germany, through the funding provided by an international association of research councils: Economic and Social Sciences Research Council (ESRC), São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), in collaboration with NORFACE, the Belmont Forum and the International Science Council within the Transformations to Sustainability (T2S) research programme.
Collaborating Institutions of the project are the University of Warwick (UK), Fundação Getulio Vargas (Brazil) and Heidelberg University (Germany).
