World Music Festival Bratislava 2022 present
Varkocs (SK), a special project formed by Erik Turtev, a virtuoso jaw harp player. Their aim is to collect songs for the jaw harp, as they are dispersed among various ethnic groups living in Slovakia: Slovak, Hungarian, Ruthenian and Czech. The repertoire of Varkocs is based on tunes that the band found in archives and learned from elderly inhabitants in villages. The songs have been enriched with the fresh flavor of imaginative arrangements, punk drive, high energy and an unconventional “rowdy folk” style.
