STORYLINE:
Violence continued in Baghdad on Thursday, when a car bomb exploded as a police convoy passed in a commercial area in central Baghdad, killing two and injuring 15.
The explosion occurred as the convoy passed by in the Allawi al-Hilla district, of central Baghdad.
One of the two people killed in the attack was a policeman, as were 12 of the injured.
A roadside bomb also exploded in the Palestine Street neighbourhood of the city, targeting the convoy of an Interior Ministry official as it was en route to pick him up at home.
Three guards were wounded in the explosion.
Raheem al-Maliki, Director of the Social Affairs Department in the Interior Ministry was not in the convoy when the attack occurred.
"A roadside bomb exploded at 0730 am (0430 GMT) next to an important military convoy," an eyewitness told AP Television.
In the same area on Thursday, another attack targeted a passing police patrol, wounding nine policemen, according to police officials.
The patrol was driving through Beirut Square in the Palestine Street neighbourhood when two roadside bombs exploded simultaneously, according to police and eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, in Fallujah, 60 kilometres (37 miles) west of Baghdad, unidentified gunmen blew up the Iraqi Islamic party headquarters, a police official said, speaking on condition of anonimity.
AP Television footage showed extensive damage to the building, but no casualties were reported.
The Iraqi Islamic party is headed by the Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi.
It is the biggest Sunni Arab political party in parliament and part of the Accordance Front.
