Join me as I set up camp and operate my portable ham radio station from a location near Summerfield, North Carolina. I was taking part in the 2015 ARRL Field Day Contest. My designator was 1B Battery NC. My equipment consisted of an 80 meter inverted V dipole antenna at apprx. 20' elevation, an Icom IC-706MKIIG transceiver, an LDG portable automatic antenna tuner, and a 750 MCA deep cycle marine battery charged with a portable solar panel charger. I operated apprx. 8 hours total due to heavy rains and storms; however, the event was a success, and I made a number of contacts from all over the USA, plus Canada. I also observed quite a number of white tail deer in the adjacent fields, which was an added bonus. This video is Part One of Two Parts, so I hope you'll check back and watch Part Two. Thanks for watching, 73 and take care!
