The final presidential debate will take a very different form to the first as the moderator will have the ability to mute the candidates’ microphones.
President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden will face off today, with the president expected to focus on the economy while Mr Biden will likely attempt to steer the conversation to focus on the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the new rules, Mr Trump and Mr Biden will be allowed a two minute response to every question – with six different topics on the agenda – and will be muted if their response goes overtime.
The rule change was prompted by the first presidential debate, which saw the candidates trade barbs and frequently interrupt each other.
The debate was schedule to kick off at 12pm AEDT.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump followed through on his threat to released pieces from his interview with 60 Minutes journalist Lesley Stahl – which the president walked out on.
A clip from the interview was published on Mr Trump’s Facebook page, revealing he had his own camera allowed into the interview.
The footage showed Mr Trump respond “just be fair” to Ms Stahl when asked whether he was ready for some “tough questions”.
