Slamdance TV interviews the Expressive Intelligence Studio -- a research lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz comprised of co-developers James Ryan (the "Wizard"), Adam Summerville (the "Guide") and Ben Samuel (the "Actor"), about their interactive game. BAD NEWS, which was in exhibition in the 2017 Slamdance's DIG (Digital Interactive Gaming) Showcase. Winner of the Audience Choice award at the 2016 IndieCade Festival, Bad News is a unique and immersive experience whose story and setting is uniquely generated for each performance by using artificial intelligence to simulate the history of a fictional small town and combines gameplay with improvisational theater. We find out their process and delve deeper into how this one-of-a-kind game is played.
