These are my tips for making better Video CVs/Resumes:
1- Introduce yourself and directly state the position you are looking for.
2- Briefly describe your current/previous role and experience.
3- DO NOT LOOK AWAY FROM THE CAMERA BY READING FROM SCRIPTS OR NOTES.
4- Wear business formal attire as if you are dressing up for a real job interview.
5- Film in a professional work environment or just with a plain backdrop (mine is a white backdrop for example), and invest in high quality lighting, camera, and microphone. You can do this by purchasing your own equipment and setting all of that up, or you can simply go to a professional studio. You can always find affordable options though (lighting, Lavalier mics, etc...).
6- Always act and look confident. Eliminate any nervousness and perfect your body language to exude more confidence and professionalism.
7- Your Video CV/Resume should be between One to Two Minutes Max.
8- Add soft corporate music as background. You can find lots of royalty-free music, but make sure you mention the source.
9- Use Video Editing Software to properly edit your video. Do not add too many transitions, and simply trim or cut out mistakes.
10- Always put a smile on your face! Employers love warm, confident, happy applicants.
Having a Video CV/Resume can definitely boost your chances of standing out from the crowd because these complementary CVs/Resumes provide an excellent opportunity to show your presentation skills, demeanor, and confidence.
Good luck!
