MADDIE Madayag is confident Ateneo will quickly bounce back from the loss to archrival La Salle and secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Eagles lost in straight sets and had their 10-match winning streak snapped, but are still on top of the standings with a 10-2 win-loss record.

Ateneo can earn the twice-to-beat incentive that incentive by winning at least one of its last two matches, against Adamson on April 24 and University of the East 28.

“Hindi pa naman tapos yung second round. We don’t need to prove anything to anyone. We just have to play our game and be ourselves,” Madayag said. “One game at a time obviously, hindi kami mag overthink and do what we usually do and focus on everything.”

The No.1 blocking team in the league went to zero out of 27 attempts, and Madayag is eager to make up for her six-point performance.

“Sabi ni coach O (Oliver Almadro) there will be a time that we will be beaten he did explain na masyado na kaming overconfident siguro something like that,” Madayag said. “Nagiging malaki na ulo, I think this loss is a good thing para naman bumaba kami.”
