Rod Quilitz, PharmD, clinical pharmacist at Moffitt Cancer Center, speaks about invasive fungal infections in immunocompromised patients. In this 2013 update, he discusses risk factors that predisposes immunocompromised patients to IFIs, common fungal pathogens, and available antifungal agents. He discusses the impact of prolonged neutropenia and different levels of CD4 cell counts on susceptibility to fungal infections. Pathogens covered include Candida, Cryptococcus, Aspergillosis, Fusarium, and Zygomycosis.
