Dance teacher Lisa, 47, had a stroke back in December 2000, two weeks before her 28th birthday.
The cost of stroke has been huge, affecting her ability to teach dance. Lisa says, "Every step is painful. I’ve also had depression and had benefits cut – at my lowest point I didn’t have any food in the house."
Fortunately, Lisa sought support from the Stroke Association. She says, “They were there for me from the beginning, informing me of support groups and enabling me to see that there is life after stroke. Reading other people’s stories in Stroke Association literature has been really helpful for me to know that I wasn’t alone.”
