Built in the early 1800’s the Exton Witch House was once home to the Ferrell family, who local lore says practiced witchcraft. In the late 1800’s the family (mother, father, & two children) all suddenly died of “suspicious circumstances” and were buried directly next to the house. Flat stones once marked the site of the graves where each member was supposedly buried upright in what’s referred to as a “witch’s burial”. For decades the house sat abandoned and neglected until 2020 when the property owners started renovating the structure. Today the house is still unused, but now easy accessible and looking beautifully restored. The history of this house however is not all negative, as records show the house may have been used as an ungrounded railroad stop too.
