I modified the design of my "A" Hood Prop, to be made out of a pine 1x4, vs the first one which was made out of a pine 2x4. I also sized all 4 slots to be the same size for ease of making the prop. On this video, the Prop is not stained or finished yet. I may take another video when it is finished and looks sort of vintage original - if Ford would have offered them back in the day. This Prop fits 1930 and 1931 Model As. Since I do not have a 1928 or 1929 to fit check, I am not sure if it will fit, although the design principle may still work - but different dimensions (my guess).
The Prop is very quick and easy to install. I managed to install it with one hand while filming with the other.
My "A" Hood Prop design allows the car to remain unmodified, as far as an aftermarket hood prop, but used when showing the car in a car show, or cooling the engine compartment, or working in the engine compartment.
My Hood Prop design is new and has, to my knowledge, never been done before. Since it is made out of cheap wood and one piece, it is easy, cheap, and quick to make. It also looks vintage, if stained with Minwax Gunstock 231 stain and finished with amber shellac. And being wood, it will much less likely to scratch the car's paint finish. I have created a drawing of the Prop, and posted it on the Model A page on Facebook.
Stay tuned for a video of the "A" Hood Prop being installed after stained, graphics added, and shellac applied...
