A truly great Strongman - Travis Ortmayer - makes his return to World's Strongest Man in 2021
The Texas Stoneman has suffered from years of addiction after suffering a broken ankle and other career ending injuries that ultimately led to a painkiller addiction back in 2012, which lasted almost a decade and nearly ruined his life. But he fought it and hasn't just made a comeback to normality - he has made it back to WSM in 2021.
He returns to WSM alongside his old friend and compatriot Brian Shaw. Two of America’s finest strongmen meet once again in the Heats of WSM 2021 in Sacramento,
We would like to celebrate the return of Travis with one of his vintage performances in 2009!
Travis and Brian couldn’t beat Derek Poundstone at The Mohegan Sun Casino Giants live in 2009, but it just gives you a feeling of quite how impressive they both were in their late 20s.
Now, both are in their 40th year of life - and they are both still gunning for the world’s strongest man title in Sacramento. In fact, they are in the same Heat!
We wish them both an enormous amount of luck
- and whatever happens - we know Travis, in particular, has been on a long road back to WSM and whatever result he gets it is a huge win in our book. Well done to the Texas Stoneman. You are a heck of a man to return from the depths of addiction. 💪. May 2021 be your year
