In this video, what is Bias Stabilization and what is Stability Factor for the BJT is explained with the example. And the different Stability Factors for the fixed bias configuration have been derived.
By watching this video, you will learn the following topics:
0:00 Introduction
0:27 What is Bias Stabilization
3:27 Stability Factors for the BJT and Types of Stability Factors
4:30 Stability Factors for the Fixed Bias Configuration
9:03 Effect of Different Stability factors on the operating point for the Fixed Bias Configuration (Example)
Bias Stabilization:
The stability of any circuit is the measure of how sensitive the circuit is to the variation in the external parameters.
In the case of the BJT, the collector current changes with the change in the temperature.
And the following parameters change with the temperature and affect the collector current.
β: Increases with increase in temperature
VBE: Decreases with increase in temperature
ICO (Reverse Saturation Current):
Increases with increase in temperature
If the collector current changes with the temperature, then the operating point also changes. And it may lead the distortion in the output when the BJT is used as an amplifier.
So, the stability of the operating point or the bias stabilization is a very important aspect for the BJT when it is used as an amplifier.
Stability Factor:
The stability of the BJT circuit is defined using the Stability Factor.
As there are three factors that affect the stability of the operating point, so there are stability factors for the BJT. (S, S' and S'')
In this video, all three stability factors have been discussed and for the Fixed Bias Configuration, the expression of all three stability factors has been derived.
This video will be useful for everyone in understanding what is stability factor for BJT and how to derive the expressions of the stability factors for the Fixed Bias Configuration.
