Hitchhiking in Central Asia is a part of the culture. If you need a ride (and have the patience) eventuanately someone is always out to help. We left Jeti Oguz in the Tian-Shan mountains, heading towards Skazka (fairytale) Canyon on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. From there, our plan was to somehow get back to Bishkek before nightfall, however we could, be it hitchhiking, by marshrutka (minibus) or on foot. This day turned out to be a lot longer and tougher than we predicted.
