Hi, I’m Quin and I have been traveling solo in a van with my cats for over three years! After LOTS of trial & error… here are my favorite tips.
NOTHING is spon btw.
LMK if you have any questions or any tips of your own to share!
Trackers:
I use two types of trackers depending on my location’s service. They do wear them both on a breakaway collar at the same time.
• Bluetooth (for out of service): @tile
• GPS (for in service): @tractive
Litterbox:
• I recommend an enclosed space next to your toilet to help contain smells!
• Small ventilation fan
• Doggy door (note.. Not all cats like this. Otto hated it & Atlas loved it)
• Charcoal deodorizer bags
• Small carpet or fake grass next to box to help w/ tracking
Temperature Controls:
• Too Cold = I have a heater that runs off my gas tank
• Too Hot = I have 2 fans & two windows that slide open. When these are turned on, they create an amazing wind tunnel.
Security:
• I used a @ring camera that connects to my wifi hot spot when I am gone. I only do this when I am in mostly city areas.
Collars, Harnesses, Leashes:
• ALWAYS get a breakaway collar just in case!
• Harnesses will be TRICKY for them. I will do a full video on this, but try multiple harnesses to see which one they tolerate the most.
• I recommend getting a retractable leash. So much easier!
Backpacks:
• DO NOT get one of those cute plastic ones. They are dangerous.
• I recommend getting a soft, breathable one that your cat likes that also has enough support for your back!
All products are linked in my B I O
PS… hiiiiii Otto. Miss you kid. Reminder, I did solo van life with two cats for two years! It’s absolutely possible which is why I love sharing all of these tips 🫶💖
